Beth Ann Krueger received her first SLR camera in 1995. Initially, she focused on trains and railroad subjects. Railroad pictures naturally led to photographing the industries associated with rail transport, as well as other heavy equipment and rural scenes. Currently, her favorite subjects comprise railroads, the mining industry, rural America, and abandoned structures. Dr. Krueger's photographic publications include Railfan & Railroad, CTC Board Railroads Illustrated, Trains, Railpace, and RailNews magazines. Her work has been featured in several gallery exhibits (Montana, New York and Arizona) both large and small. Last summer, two of her photographs were selected for the Southeastern Montana Juried Art Exhibit (artists from five surrounding states were invited to enter); these two photos were also selected for the show's summer touring exhibit. "Silver Blue" is one of these photos. Currently, Dr. Krueger is the science professor and lead faculty member at Central Arizona College's Aravaipa Campus. She was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and grew up in rural Cambridge, Maine (population 350) and has lived in Florida, upstate New York, Texas, and Westby, Montana (population 140). One attraction to Oracle for her is the artist population. She appreciates the extraordinary photographic opportunities afforded by the beautiful scenery and history of this former large copper mining and now largely rural region. Railroads and photography are her primary passion, but she also enjoys hiking, reading, writing, natural history, and long road trips. The Arizona Daily Star, Thursday March 29, 2007, quoting Dr. Krueger: "I'm a very visual person. It's (photography is) a good way to translate the essence and feeling and being of a place into something you can share with others." |
